How M.Sc. Funding Works
- Year 1: Funded centrally by the university.
- By end of Year 1: Students must secure a supervisor.
- Once matched, funding transfers to the supervisor.
- Students who do not secure a supervisor become self-funded (tuition: AED 37,500 for UAE nationals, AED 15,500 for international students).
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the MBZUAI Master’s Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
Academic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.)
- Degree from a university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education
- Minimum GPA: 3.0/4.0
English Language Requirements

Exemption: If you completed a degree taught entirely in English in a country

- Recommendation letters: 2 for M.Sc. (one from a course instructor/research supervisor, one from a work supervisor)

Screening Exam & Application Fee
After submitting your application, you will receive a
Screening Exam invitation within 10 days.
- Exam covers: Mathematics (linear algebra, probability) + Programming (algorithms, data structures, Python, OOP)
- Application fee: AED 200, payable after the screening exam
- Fee waiver: If you score ≥75% on the screening exam, the fee is waived. If you enroll, the fee is refunded.
