Job Description

USTC Research Internship Program 2027 – Fully Funded Research Placement in China

Introduction:

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) invites international students to join its Research Internship Program. This program gives graduate students and senior undergraduates the chance to work directly on cutting-edge research alongside USTC professors. In addition, participants build strong faculty relationships, which can boost future applications to USTC’s Master’s, PhD, or postdoctoral programs.

Scholarship Levels (USTC Fellowship):

USTC offers limited scholarships to outstanding applicants. Every applicant is automatically evaluated for these three tiers:

Programme Cost (Self-Funded / Non-Scholarship):

  • Tuition: 2,160 RMB/month (undergrad or Master’s); 26,000 RMB/year for undergrad or Master’s; 32,000 RMB/year for PhD
  • Dormitory: 500–1,000 RMB/month, depending on room type
  • Insurance: 160 RMB/month

Internship Duration:

3 months to 1 year

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You hold non-Chinese citizenship with a valid foreign passport
  • You are between 18 and 40 years old
  • You are in good health, with no criminal record
  • You are currently enrolled full-time as a Year 3/4 undergraduate, Master’s, or doctoral student
  • You demonstrate a good command of English

Application Deadlines:

  • USTC Fellowship Level A: Jan 1 – Mar 31 (for the fall semester) or Jul 1 – Sept 30 (for the spring semester)
  • Level B, Level C, or self-funded applicants: Apply at least 3 months before your intended start date at USTC

How to Apply:

  1. Go to the online application portal and register
  2. Select Non-degree Program → Research Internship
  3. Complete the application form and upload required documents (marked with an asterisk)
  4. Submit your application

Once admitted, you’ll receive instructions to pay tuition online. USTC only sends official admission documents after your tuition payment is confirmed. You’ll also need to purchase insurance before arrival.

Visa & Accommodation:

Admitted students must submit the Visa Application Form (JW201 or JW202) along with their Admission Notice to a Chinese embassy or consulate. Level A/B students get on-campus housing on a first-come, first-served basis; Level C and self-funded students must arrange off-campus housing themselves.
