Eligibility Criteria of the Open Doors Russian Scholarship
Bachelor’s Track

Must already have, or obtain in 2025, an academic degree that allows applying to higher education institutions under the laws of the applicant’s home country.
Master’s Track

Must already have, or obtain in 2025, a Bachelor’s degree.
Doctoral (PhD equivalent) Track

Must already have, or obtain in 2025, a Master’s or Specialist degree.
Postdoctoral Track
- Must be under the age of 39.
- Must hold a doctoral, PhD, or Candidate of Science degree.

First Stage: Portfolio Competition
Timeline:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s & Doctoral: September 5 – December 2, 2025
- Postdoctoral: September 16 – December 25
Requirements:
- Participants must pass an entrance test (up to 3 attempts, 1 hour each).
- Build and submit a portfolio with academic achievements and documents.
- Documents must be in English or Russian (or translated).
Evaluation:
- Portfolios are scored by jury members.
- Up to 45% of participants in each subject area advance to the second stage.
Second Stage
Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Tracks
- Dates: December 3, 2025 – January 17, 2026
- Format: Online proctored test (3 hours, fixed number of points).
- Identification: Participants must show an ID via webcam before starting.
- Appeals: Allowed within 2 days after results (only regarding task assessment).
- Final Score: Combined results of Stage 1 and Stage 2 (integral score).
Postdoctoral Track
Dates: December 26, 2025 – January 29, 2026 Format: Submission of a
- video presentation of scientific results.
- Evaluation: Reviewed by research project representatives.
Third Stage
Doctoral Track
- Dates: January 20 – February 21, 2026
- Format: Up to 6 online interviews with potential supervisors.
- Outcome: Candidates with at least one supervisor’s approval are winners.
Postdoctoral Track
- Dates: January 29 – February 21, 2026
- Format: Up to 6 online interviews with project leaders.
- Outcome: Participants with at least one job offer are winners.
Results and Final Admission
- Bachelor’s & Master’s Winners: Determined by ranked integral scores after Stage 2.
- Doctoral Winners: Determined by interviews with supervisors.
- Postdoctoral Winners: Determined by job offers from project leaders.
Publication of Results:
- Bachelor’s & Master’s: Final day of Stage 2
- Doctoral: Final day of Stage 3
- Postdoctoral: Final day of Stage 3
