Melbourne Research Scholarship Benefits
- 100% tuition fee offset: up to 2 years (Masters by Research) or 4 years (doctoral)
- Stipend: $39,500/year pro rata (2026 rate) for up to 2 years (Masters) or 3.5 years (PhD)
- Relocation allowance: $2,000 (interstate) or $3,000 (international)
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), single membership, for visa-holding international students
Eligibility Criteria
- Applied for or currently enrolled in a University of Melbourne graduate research degree
- Selected on academic results and demonstrated research potential
- Publications, professional experience, or prior same-level qualifications may strengthen an application
- International applicants need a valid Australian student visa
How to Apply?
- First, apply for a graduate research course by that course’s closing date, and the university automatically considers you for the Melbourne Research Scholarship and related graduate research scholarships. No separate application is needed for most applicants
- Then, you’ll receive confirmation of automatic consideration within seven days of submitting your course application
- However, if you already hold a deferred course offer, or you’re currently enrolled and now want consideration, submit the separate Graduate Research Scholarships application form
- Additionally, international applicants pay a non-refundable AUD $154 course application fee, though the official source exempts Research Higher Degree (graduate research) applicants from this fee
