Master of Arts in Human Rights and Sustainability (MAHRS) Program

The Master of Arts in Human Rights and Sustainability (MAHRS) is a recent program offered by the OSCE Academy. It focuses on the field of “Human rights and Sustainability” and accepts up to 20 students through a highly competitive selection process. The program is specifically designed for young scholars and professionals interested in studying International Human Rights Law, Good Governance, and Sustainability Principles, Norms, and Standards, with a particular emphasis on the Central Asian Region. The MAHRS program is jointly financed by the European Union (EU) and the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, in collaboration with the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice. The Global Campus is a large academic network comprising approximately 100 universities worldwide, with regional headquarters in Argentina, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lebanon, South Africa, and Thailand.

Application Process:

To apply for the MAHRS program, interested individuals must complete the following steps:

  • Register and complete an online application form by clicking on the “START THE APPLICATION” link.
  • Application Requirements:
  • Applicants must fulfill the following criteria to be considered for admission:
  • Successful completion of an academic degree in the field of social sciences, humanities, law, sociology, international relations, political sciences, or a related subject. The degree should be a four-year BA degree, Specialist Diploma, or the final year of a BA program.
  • Citizenship of one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, or any other OSCE participating state.
  • Demonstrated professional and/or research interest in human rights, sustainability, and democratization in Central Asia.
  • Advanced level of English proficiency, as evidenced by a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS or 90 on the TOEFL.

2. Monthly stipend of 450 EUR.
3. Round trip economy class travel to/from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan*.
