The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) Scholarship Program 2024 now accepts applications from students in developing countries who aspire to pursue their first certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree. This highly competitive scholarship opportunity aims to support students throughout their four-year undergraduate studies.

WMI, based in the USA, is dedicated to fostering social change through education and community building. The organization offers scholarships, training, and various educational programs.

Every year, WMI provides 50 to 60 scholarships to students from developing countries who wish to pursue post-secondary studies at universities, trade schools, or polytechnics. These scholarships cover the entire duration of the student’s chosen programs.

Eligibility Criteria WMI Scholarship Program:

Ideal candidates for the Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship Program should meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of secondary school with good to exceptional grades
  • Age 35 or younger as of August 1, 2024
  • Studying in their home country or another developing country
  • Pursuing a first bachelor’s degree or diploma
  • Enrolled in a study program that benefits the community or contributes to the country’s growth and advancement
  • Intention to live and work in their home country after graduation
  • Demonstration of commitment to giving back through volunteering
  • Possessing alternative funds for their studies but unable to pursue a tertiary degree without financial support

Benefits of the WMI Scholarship Program:

WMI scholarships range from $300 USD to $3000 USD per year, with an average amount of $1500 USD awarded throughout the recipient’s undergraduate study. The scholarship covers the following expenses:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Books and materials
  • Room rent and meals

Required Documents:

Applicants must prepare and submit the following supporting documents:

  • Personal photo
  • Essay exploring the provided topic on the application form
  • 2024 application form
  • Personal essay statement
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Official secondary school transcript
  • Official grading key for secondary school grades
  • Official tertiary studies transcript of grades (if applicable)
  • Official grading key for tertiary studies
  • Official results of national exams
  • Official grading key to interpret scores on national exams

Note: All requested documents must be in English.

Documents in other languages should have official English translations.

The requested files must be in JPG, PNG, GIF, DOC, DOCX, or PDF format (version 10 or newer).

Applicant Responsibilities:

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, applicants should fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain good grades in all university courses
  • Advocate for community service and involvement
  • Complete, record, and document 100 hours of community service activities annually
  • Submit the Academic Semester Report and the Community Service Report for WMI Scholars
  • Provide official semester transcripts twice a year
  • Maintain communication with the Education Manager regarding student circumstances

Online Application:

  1.  Begin the application process by accessing the online application form through the link provided.
  2.  Create an account, enter personal information, and upload the required documents.
  3. Applying online is recommended for ease and security.

Mailing Application:

  1. Print the Application form (PDF), attach all requested documents, and send them by mail.
  2. Ensure that the application is sent at least three weeks before the deadline.
  3. International applicants should submit their applications at least three weeks before the deadline.
