UNOPS Partnerships Intern – Geneva (2026)

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is offering a Partnerships Intern position based in Geneva, Switzerland. This six-month internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in event coordination, partnerships, communications, and stakeholder engagement within a dynamic United Nations environment.

About the Position

The Partnerships Intern will support the UNOPS Geneva Office in its engagement with high-level global events, stakeholder coordination, communications, and partnership outreach. The role offers hands-on experience contributing to global programmes while developing skills in international relations, knowledge management, and event support.

UNOPS serves as a central operational arm of the United Nations, delivering project management, infrastructure, and procurement services to support peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development initiatives worldwide. The Geneva Office manages a diverse global portfolio covering fund management, programme implementation, advisory services, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships Specialist, the intern will be responsible for the following main areas of work:

1. Global Events Participation Support

  • Support events-related planning by researching relevant events, maintaining an updated calendar and event tracker, and coordinating planning activities for delegations and side event applications
  • Help develop and maintain tools related to global events
  • Provide coordination and logistics support before and after events
  • Draft and coordinate internal communications related to international days
  • Share information about event timelines and application processes
  • Facilitate regular communications and calls concerning global events
  • Respond to requests from global programmes related to events and follow up on processes such as delegation registration
  • Provide logistics support for events and visits as needed

2. Events Knowledge Management and Communication

  • Develop internal tools, guidance documents, and materials
  • Support the visibility of UNOPS Geneva and global programmes on corporate social media, website, and intranet
  • Conduct research and prepare reference materials for briefs, notes, and statements

3. Broader Partnership and Communications Support

  • Provide additional support to partnership and communications activities as required

Required Education

Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed (within the last three years), a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in one of the following fields (or a related area):

  • Development Studies
  • Political Science
  • International Relations

Experience Requirements

Required: No prior professional experience is required.

Desirable:

  • One year of experience in business development, communications, and/or partnerships in a reputable organization
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Experience using computers and software packages (especially Google Suite/Workspace) and web-based systems

Language Requirements

  • English: Fluent (Required)
  • French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), or Russian: Intermediate level (Desirable)
