Do you want to study in Canada without paying full tuition? Seneca Polytechnic, one of Canada’s largest polytechnics with campuses across the Greater Toronto Area and Peterborough, offers the Seneca Polytechnic Entrance Scholarship of up to $5,000 CAD for international students. Toronto ranks among the world’s most multicultural cities, with over 150 languages spoken across the city.
This scholarship funds part of your tuition at any full-time postsecondary level: certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, graduate certificates, and master’s degrees. Additionally, it welcomes applicants of every nationality. Moreover, Seneca sets no cap on recipients; every eligible international student starting in September 2026, January 2027, or May 2027 receives it automatically.

This scholarship covers tuition and the application fee only. However, it excludes stipends, travel allowances, health insurance, and mentorship. Therefore, students should plan additional costs.
Awards Summary
- 1-year program: $2,000 CAD, paid a few weeks after Day 10 of classes
- 2-year program: $3,000 CAD total ($2,000 year one, $1,000 year two)
- 3-year program: $4,000 CAD total ($2,000 year one, $1,000 each in years two and three)
- 4-year program: $5,000 CAD total ($2,000 year one, $1,000 each in years two, three, and four)
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria (candidate-side):
- You hold international applicant status, in or outside Canada
- You pay international tuition fees
- You confirm your offer for a full-time postsecondary program at Seneca
- You may also qualify if you study in Canada and want a second program.
- Applicants obtaining an OSSD are also eligible.
- Current Seneca students applying for a new program can also receive this scholarship.
Admission Requirements:
- Degree programs: Grade 10-12 transcripts with six senior-level courses equivalent to Ontario university-prep credits, 65% overall average, plus your secondary school diploma
- Diploma/Advanced Diploma: Grade 10-12 transcripts and secondary school diploma, meeting program prerequisites
- Graduate certificates: Complete post-secondary transcripts plus your degree/diploma/certificate; some programs require a credential assessment
- Certificates: Grade 10-12 transcripts and secondary school diploma
- Translate non-English documents into English
Language Requirements:
- TOEFL iBT: No skill below 21/30 (diploma/degree) or 22/30 (master’s/graduate certificate). Seneca doesn’t publish one institution code; confirm with ETS directly.
- IELTS Academic: Minimum 6.5, no band below 6.0 (degree/master’s/graduate certificate); minimum 6.0, no band below 5.5 (diploma/certificate)
- PTE Academic: Minimum 60 (degree/master’s/graduate certificate); minimum 58 (diploma/certificate)
- Duolingo: 115-120 (degree); 120-125 (master’s/graduate certificate); 105-110 (diploma/certificate)
How to Apply?
- Apply to your program through Seneca’s International Web Application
- Pay the $90 CAD application fee (credited back once accepted)
- Upload your study permit or LOI if applying within Canada
- Confirm your offer and pay first-semester fees to receive your LOA and PAL
- Submit your SIN or ITN on Student Home by your intake deadline (see “Key Dates” above)
- Seneca applies the entrance scholarship automatically; no separate scholarship application needed

- Log into Student Home after accepting your offer
- Open the Financial Aid tile and select Apply for Financial Aid
- Complete the required sections and select your eligible awards
- Submit before the closing date; Seneca’s Awards Committee selects recipients by academic standing
