The Master Mind Scholarship 2026–2027, funded by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training (Belgium), offers exceptional international students the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at top universities in Flanders or Brussels, including KU Leuven. The scholarship provides a €10,000 annual grant and a full tuition fee waiver, making it one of Europe’s most competitive and prestigious master’s scholarships.

This program aims to attract highly talented students with excellent academic achievements, strong motivation, and leadership potential. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year (60 ECTS programs) or two academic years (120 ECTS programs).

A total of 30 Master Mind Scholarships will be awarded by the Flemish government, with 20 nomination slots reserved for KU Leuven. Additional reserved scholarships are allocated to students from Japan, Mexico, Palestine, and the USA.

Scholarship Benefits

  • €10,000 grant per academic year (renewable for 2-year programs).

Eligibility Criteria

1. Study Level

  • Applicants must apply for an eligible Master’s program in Flanders or Brussels.

  • Preparatory, bridging, and distance learning programs are not eligible.

2. Nationality

  • All nationalities may apply.
  • Russian citizens are not eligible.

3. Academic Requirements

  • Excellent academic performance (high GPA).
  • Previous degree must be obtained outside Flanders.

4. English Language Proficiency

Accepted tests:

  • TOEFL Online: minimum 94
  • IELTS: minimum 7
  • Cambridge CPE: level C2

Notes:

  • Language test must be taken before 15 January 2026.

  • Results may be submitted after the deadline.

  • Applicants with a previous English-taught degree from Australia, Canada (English-speaking), Ireland, New Zealand, UK, USA are exempt.

5. Disqualifying Conditions

Applicants are not eligible if:

  • Already enrolled at a Flemish university (except students in a specific preparatory program during spring 2026).

  • They hold another Flemish government scholarship or Erasmus Mundus scholarship.

Required Documents of Master Mind Scholarship

Applicants must submit the required materials through the master’s program application portal:

  • Completed application file for the chosen Master’s program
  • KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form (uploaded as “Annexe”)
  • Official academic transcripts
  • English language test results (if applicable)
  • Motivation letter
  • CV/Resume
  • Passport or national ID
  • Other supporting documents required by the specific program

Selection Procedure

1. Nomination Stage

  • All nominated candidates are informed before 10 March 2026.

2. Preselection (University Level)

  • KU Leuven will preselect up to 20 students.

  • Preselected students will receive notification by 15 April 2026.

  • They must complete the Flemish government’s online application form.

3. Final Selection (Flemish Government)

  • Final decisions are made by the Flemish Selection Committee.

  • Results announced end of May or early June 2026.

Step 1: Apply for the Master’s Program

  • Submit a complete application for an eligible Master’s program at KU Leuven or another Flemish university.

  • Include the Master Mind Candidacy Form under the “Annexe” upload section.

Step 2: Register Scholarship Candidacy

  • Register via the official Master Mind online tool before the deadline.
