Looking to study in Iraq and need a scholarship that skips tuition fees, dormitory costs, and health insurance bills? The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research runs the “Study in Iraq” Scholarship Program, now open for its 4th edition covering the 2026-2027 academic year. The program funds diploma, bachelor’s, higher diploma, master’s, and PhD study for international students of all nationalities at government and private Iraqi universities. Study in Iraq Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition coverage: Full exemption from tuition fees under the Fully-Funded track; 50% exemption under the Half-Funded track; full tuition payment required under the Self-Funded track.
  • Stipend: None. The program does not pay a monthly salary or cash allowance under any track.
  • Accommodation: Free dormitory housing, included in all three funding tracks.

Scholarship Awards Summary

  • Fully Funded Track: Covers 100% of tuition fees, dormitory housing, visa and residency fees, and health insurance. Open to diploma, bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD applicants.
  • Half-Funded Track: Covers 50% of tuition fees, dormitory housing, visa and residency fees, and health insurance.
  • Self-Funded Track: Applicant pays full tuition; dormitory housing, visa and residency fees, and health insurance remain covered by the Iraqi government.

Applicants may apply to up to five universities total: three under the Fully-Funded track, one under the Half-Funded track, and one under the Self-Funded track.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a non-Iraqi citizen born to non-Iraqi parents.
  • Applicant must not have previously obtained a study seat or degree at an Iraqi university.
  • Open to all nationalities and all genders.
  • No language test is required. The program does not require IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo scores for application.
  • No document translation is required at the initial registration stage; a valid passport is sufficient to create an account and register.
  • Academic certificates and transcripts must later be translated into Arabic or English and legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iraqi Embassy in the applicant’s home country.

  • Fill in personal details, passport information, and academic background, then select up to five universities across the three funding tracks and upload the required documents (academic certificates, valid passport, birth certificate or national ID, personal photo, and a signed written pledge) before the relevant deadline.
