Eligibility Criteria:

1.  Bachelor’s degree in any field (degree program awarded by August 31, 2024)
2. Demonstrated curiosity and motivation to become a leader in chosen field
3. Exceptional academic background
4. Interest in interdisciplinary study of China
5. Record of extracurricular accomplishments, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership potential
6. Proficiency in English language

Requirement Documentation:

• Write a personal statement of 750 words or less.
• Provide a statement of research interest with a maximum of 1500 words (excluding citations).
• Submit your curriculum vitae.
• Include official transcript(s) and diploma(s) or certificate(s) of enrollment.
• Obtain two academic letters of recommendation.
• English requirements and minimum scores:
  • IELTS (Academic): Overall 7.0
  • TOEFL (iBT): Overall 100
  • Cambridge English Scale (Advanced): Overall 185
  • CET 6: Overall 600
  • TEM 4: Pass level of “良好” or above

Note:01 If English is your native language or you have completed an undergraduate or higher degree program in English, you do not need to provide an English proficiency test report. However, if you are from Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan (HMT), you must provide an English proficiency test report, even if you have completed an English-taught degree program. If you are from the Chinese Mainland, an English proficiency test report is mandatory for your application. Candidates from HMT who do not provide an English proficiency test report will be required to take English as a Second Language after being admitted to Peking University.

Note:02 English proficiency tests must be taken after September 1, 2022. Currently, we do not accept TOEFL MyBest Scores, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, IELTS Indicator test, or IELTS Online.

Note:03 Submission of English scores: For IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge tests, we will only accept scores sent directly to us from these organizations. Make sure you choose “Yenching Academy of Peking University” as the designated recipient of your scores when you book the exam time. For TOEFL, use the institution code: C488.
