The Berea College History

Berea College was founded by Reverend John Gregg Fee in 1855. That was the first interracial and coeducational college in the southern United States. it was made to provide education for both African American and white students who didn’t access to education for racial discrimination.

Each individual admitted to Berea College gets a full-tuition scholarship, which contains the cost of tuition for all period of their undergraduate. This makes Berea College one of the least colleges in the United States that offers a tuition-free education.

Study- Work Program

For supporting the tuition-free policy, The College mad a mandatory work-study plan. All students have to work at least 10 hours per week on campus or in approved off-campus positions. This working add to their educational background and helps cover their living funds.
