About OSCE Academy in Bishkek:

The OSCE Academy (Scholarship Program) Established in 2002 by the Kyrgyz government and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the OSCE Academy in Bishkek is a public institution. It serves as a hub for postgraduate education, professional training, research, and intellectual exchange, all aimed at promoting the principles and values of the OSCE.

At the heart of the OSCE Academy is its rigorous MA Program in “Politics and Security (Central Asia).” This program, known for its high level of competitiveness, admits a maximum of 30 students each year. Through comprehensive coursework and academic challenges, the program offers a unique opportunity for students to delve into the intricacies of politics and security, with a specific focus on Central Asia.

Opportunity Description:

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is providing fully-funded scholarships for the MA Program in the Politics and Security (Central Asia) field, specifically targeting students from Central Asian nations. Each year, the program admits 30 students through a highly competitive selection process, including the years 2024-2026.

This MA Program is specifically designed for ambitious young professionals who possess a strong work ethic and are eager to enhance their educational background in areas such as political sciences, security studies, conflict prevention, and international relations.

The program is offered on a full-time basis, commencing on September 1, 2024, and spanning a duration of 18 months. Prior to the program’s commencement, all enrolled students are required to attend a preparatory Summer School scheduled from August 5 to August 29, 2024. To be eligible for this program, students must be willing to travel to and reside in Bishkek.

Candidates from Afghanistan, as well as other Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, or any other OSCE participating state, are welcome to apply for this fully-funded program.

Moreover, the OSCE Academy also offers two additional fully-funded scholarships specifically for Central Asian students, including those from Afghanistan, as outlined below:

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the OSCE Academy Scholarship in Economic Governance and Development Program, candidates must:

• Hold an academic degree of higher education (four-year BA, Specialist Diploma, or final year of BA) in related fields such as economics, finance, management, business administration, or equivalent subjects
• Have an advanced level of English (minimum 6.5 on the IELTS or 90 on the TOEFL)
• Be a citizen of one of the seven program countries of the OSCE Academy or any other participating State of the OSCE (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia)
