About Opportunity:

The NHRE program is a Master’s degree program in Natural Hazards and Risks in Structural Engineering offered by the Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany. It is designed for professionals with working experience in related fields of Civil and Structural Engineering and can be completed in four semesters of full-time study.  The internationally oriented program trains students to perform demanding engineering activities under specific external influences such as earthquakes, floods, and wind. Program Objectives & Goals

The NHRE program aims to provide students with advanced, interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in structural engineering, including risk analysis and performance-based design. It explores various engineering disciplines and related fields to reduce the impact of natural disasters and assess and reduce the vulnerability of structures. The program also emphasizes engineering technology’s demands at regional and global levels and prepares students for future professional careers or further research positions.

DAAD funds the Master of Science in NHRE international students fully as follows:

  • Insurance costs for health, accidents, and personal liability will be covered.
  • Students will receive a monthly stipend of 934 euros.
  • Additional benefits may be available under certain circumstances, including monthly rent subsidy.
  • A travel allowance will be provided.
  • Students with accompanying family members will also receive a monthly allowance.

To apply for this Master’s degree program, applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The Target group of NHRE is professionals with two years of experience working in private companies and governmental institutions related to civil and structural engineering.
  • Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Civil and Structural Engineering or an equivalent degree with a minimum final grade of 2.5 in the German system or higher
  • Applicants must be from developing countries
  • English Language Proficiency:
  1. A native speaker must submit the certificate of higher education entrance qualification or first-level professional qualification, Or
  2. Based on the Common European Framework, applicants must submit TOEFL (IBT 85 or better, IELTS 6.5 or equivalent certificate,
  3. Cambridge Certificate First Certificate in English (FCE)

  • TOEFL or IELTS certificate and, if applicable German proficiency prove
  • Previous or current Employment Certificate
  • Two Recommendation Letters, one academic and one professional
  • Copy of Passport or Identity Card.
  • Passport-size photo.
