TOEFL iBT

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test) is an English proficiency test that measures the ability of non-native English speakers to use and understand English in an academic setting. The TOEFL iBT test consists of four sections:

  • Reading,
  • Listening

TOEFL iBT Reading Section:

The Reading section assesses the ability to read and comprehend academic texts. This section consists of two reading passages, each approximately 700 words long, The passages are academic in nature, and the questions test your ability to understand and analyze the information presented in the passages.

TOEFL iBT Listening Section:

The Listening section evaluates the ability to understand spoken English in academic settings. This section consists of 3 lectures and 3 conversations.

  • Each lectures 3-5 minutes
  • 6 questions per lectures
  • 2 conversations,
  • each conversation has  3 minutes with 5 questions per conversation.

The lectures and conversations are academic in nature, and the questions test your ability to understand the main ideas and details presented in them. It includes listening for:

TOEFL iBT Speaking Section:

The Speaking section measures the ability to speak English fluently and coherently in academic situations. This section consists of 6 tasks, including 2 independent tasks and 4 integrated tasks. The independent tasks require you to express your opinion on a familiar topic, while the integrated tasks require you to integrate information from reading and listening passages into your responses.

TOEFL iBT Writing Section:

The Writing section evaluates the ability to write well-organized and grammatically correct essays on academic topics. This section consists of 2 tasks, including an integrated task and an independent task. The integrated task requires you to read a passage and listen to a lecture, and then write a response that integrates information from both sources. The independent task requires you to write an essay expressing your opinion on a given topic.

  • Integrated writing task (20 minutes) — read a short passage and listen to a short lecture, then write in response to what you read and listened to.
  • Writing for an Academic Discussion task (10 minutes) — state and support an opinion in an online classroom discussion.

The total test takes just under 2 hours to complete, but you should plan for 2.5 hours, allowing 30 minutes for check in.

What is Different between home Edition TOEFL test and test center TOEFL test ?
