DAAD scholarships provide foreign graduates from developing and newly industrialized countries the opportunity to pursue postgraduate or Master’s degrees, and in some cases, doctoral degrees at state or state-recognized German universities. The program aims to promote the training of specialists from these countries to contribute to sustainable development and a better future with less poverty, more education, and better health for all. The scholarships are open to graduates from all disciplines with at least two years of professional experience. Overall, DAAD scholarships aim to support highly qualified individuals who have the potential to contribute to the development of their home countries with their newly acquired knowledge and skills. In addition to financial support, scholarship holders also benefit from a wide range of networking opportunities and cultural experiences in Germany.

Monthly 861euros payments for Mastery applicants
Monthly 1200 euros for Doctoral applicants

Eligibility:

The typical scholarship holder:

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related field, completed with above-average results.
  • Has at least two years of professional experience in a relevant field after the first degree (bachelor).
  • Is applying for a Master’s degree program in a related subject area that will help them achieve their career goals and contribute to the development of their home country.
  • Has a good command of the German language or is willing to take language courses in Germany prior to the start of the program.
  • His/her academic degrees should normally not be more than six years old.
  • Demonstrates a strong motivation and commitment to their studies and future career goals.
  • Has a clear plan for how they will use the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies to contribute to the development of their home country.
