This fully funded opportunity allows outstanding professionals from around the world to pursue a one-year Master’s degree at any UK university, gain world-class education, build global networks, and return home equipped to drive impact.
What is the Chevening Scholarship?
Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations, Chevening Scholarships support future leaders who are passionate about tackling shared challenges in areas such as growth and prosperity, climate resilience, security and stability, and inclusive societies.
Scholars spend one year studying in the UK, developing professionally and academically while building lifelong connections with the UK and a global network of alumni.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?
Chevening is a fully funded scholarship. Successful candidates receive:
- Full tuition fees for a one-year Master’s degree
- Monthly living allowance (stipend)
- Economy return flights to the UK
- UK visa costs
- Arrival allowance
- Access to exclusive networking events and the global Chevening alumni community
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must:
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
- Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after the scholarship ends
- Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK Master’s programme (typically equivalent to a UK 2:1). You must have completed your undergraduate studies at least two years before the application deadline
- Have at least two years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 hours) acquired after completing your undergraduate degree. Full-time, part-time, voluntary work and internships all count
- Apply to three different eligible UK Master’s courses and obtain an unconditional offer from at least one by the July 2027 deadline
You are not eligible if you:
- Hold British or dual British citizenship (with limited exceptions)
- Have previously studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship
- Are currently employed by (or an immediate relative of an employee of) the UK government, British Council or certain partner organisations
Application Timeline
- 4 August 2026 (11:00 UTC) – Applications open
- 6 October 2026 (11:00 UTC) – Applications close
- October 2026 – January 2027 – Eligibility sifting and reading committee assessments
- Mid-February 2027 – Shortlisted candidates invited to interview
- March – April 2027 – Interviews at British embassies and high commissions
- Mid-June 2027 – Results announced
- 8 July 2027 (17:00 BST) – Deadline to submit at least one unconditional UK university offer
- September / October 2027 – Studies begin in the UK
How to Apply
All applications must be submitted online via the official Chevening application system. You apply through your country’s page on the Chevening website.
You will need to:
- Complete the online application form
- Select three eligible UK Master’s courses
- Provide details of your work experience
- Write four essays demonstrating your leadership, networking, and future plans
- Nominate two referees
- Visit the official website for full guidance, eligibility checker, and country-specific pages.
Important: You do not need a university offer at the time of applying for Chevening, but you must secure an unconditional offer from one of your chosen courses by 8 July 2027 if selected.
