Scholarship Description

The University of Milan (La Statale) offers Regional Scholarships (Diritto allo Studio Universitario, DSU) to help cover the cost of higher education. The scholarships are jointly funded by Regione Lombardia and Italy’s Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and are open to both Italian and international students enrolling full-time in bachelor’s, single-cycle master’s, master’s, PhD, and (with some exclusions) specialization school programs at the university.

In addition to a cash payment, awards include free access to university refectory services, and winners also receive a full or partial exemption from university tuition fees. The amount each student receives depends on their income bracket and how far they live from the university, with extra top-ups available for STEM female students, students with disabilities, those studying abroad, and on-time graduates.

Scholarship Benefits

• Cash award ranging from €2,143 to €8,248 (total, including the meal quota), based on income bracket and residence category (on-site, commuter, or off-site)
• Winners: Once awarded, winners are entitled to complete exemption from university fees + one free midday meal, Monday to Saturday
• Partial winners: 50% exemption from university fees
• Free catering service from 1 January to 31 December 2027 (excluding August)
• STEM female students (Annex 2 courses): scholarship amount increased by 20%
• Students with disabilities: scholarship increased by up to 40%, and merit requirement reduced by 40%

International Mobility Allowance (for certified study/internship abroad)

• Up to €600/month, for a maximum of 10 months
• Travel expenses reimbursed up to €100 (European countries) or €500 (non-European countries)

Degree/Graduating Award

• Students who graduate on time receive a top-up equal to half of their last year’s scholarship amount

Eligibility Criteria of Milan University:

• Full-time enrolment in an eligible program at the University of Milan
• Merit and income are both assessed; the scholarship is not awarded on income or merit alone
• Economic requirement: ISEE Università must not exceed €26,887.93, and ISPE must not exceed €57,452.06
• Merit requirement (first-year students):
  • Bachelor’s/single-cycle master’s: 35 credits by 10 August 2027 (5 bonus credits available)
  • Master’s degree: 20 credits (open-access courses) or 23 credits (limited-access courses) by 10 August 2027; no bonus available
• Merit requirement (students beyond first year): credits as set out in the official call, achieved by 10 August 2026
• Students with disabilities: merit requirement reduced by 40%
• PhD/specialization school students: must pass the final first-year exam to keep the benefit; subsequent years require uninterrupted regular enrolment

Not Eligible:

• Students enrolled in vocational master’s programmes or postgraduate medical schools
• PhD students already receiving another scholarship or research grant
• Students already receiving similar benefits from other entities for the same programme year
• Part-time students or those on a shortened career path
• Repeating students
• Students who already hold an Italian degree equal to or higher than the one they’re applying for

Required Documents of Milan University

1. Single Self-Declaration (DSU) for ISEE Università, signed by 30 September 2026
2. For students with family units abroad falling under Annex 1 of the call: specific supporting documentation for the equated ISEE calculation
3. For off-site students: registered rental contract or fiscal certification, submitted by 16 November 2026 (or 31 January 2027 for certain late-enrolling categories)
4. Registration on the UniMi portal (SPID login accepted) is required before applying

2. Log in to the Online Helpdesk (Benefits Service Desk).
3. Complete and submit your scholarship application, including your DSU/ISEE Università declaration.
4. Submit by the deadline: 30 September 2026, 23:59 (GMT+2).
5. Check the provisional ranking (by 31 October 2026) and the final ranking (by 30 November 2026) on the same portal.
