The 2026/28 Erasmus Mundus GEM Scholarship is a fully funded Master’s program in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Environmental Modelling and Management. This highly competitive international program is jointly offered by four leading European universities located in Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Estonia.

The GEM program prepares students to understand, manage, and model socio-ecological systems using advanced Earth Observation (EO) and Geo-Information (GI) technologies. With growing global demand for environmental monitoring, the program offers cutting-edge training using datasets from Copernicus, NASA Earth Data, and other global geodata sources.

Erasmus Mundus GEM Scholarship aims to produce top-class graduates with the technical, analytical, and professional skills needed to address environmental challenges and support sustainable development worldwide.

Program Structure

Applicants must select one study track, and each track consists of studying in two universities in two different countries:

Track 1: Geospatial Planner

Track 3: Geospatial Developer

Scholarship Benefits

The Erasmus Mundus GEM Scholarship is fully funded and covers:

  • Full tuition fees for the entire duration of the program

  • Full health and travel insurance

  • €1,400 monthly allowance for up to 24 months, covering:

    • Living expenses

    • Travel & visa costs

    • Laptop

    • Personal study-related needs

Eligibility Criteria

General Requirements

  • Open to applicants from all nationalities.

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s program.

  • Applicants from any academic background (technical, social sciences, computing, etc.) may apply.

  • No age limit.

  • Candidates with an existing Master’s degree may also apply.

  • No requirement for:

    • Motivation letter

    • Reference letters

    • Research topic proposal

  • Must meet the English language proficiency requirements.
