The Stipendium Hungaricum is a fully funded scholarship program launched by the Hungarian Government to support international students pursuing higher education in Hungary. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Nationality
    • Be a citizen of a country that has a bilateral educational cooperation agreement with Hungary.
    • Not hold Hungarian citizenship.
  2. Academic Status
    • For full-degree scholarships: eligible to apply for bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, or doctoral programs.
    • Be nominated by the “sending partner” institution in their home country (if required).
  3. Age
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years old by a certain date, as defined in the call for applications.
  4. Language Proficiency
    1. Must meet the language requirements for the chosen program (English or Hungarian).
    2. For non-Hungarian programs, often mandatory to take a Hungarian-as-a-foreign-language course during the first year.

Required Documents

To apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, candidates typically need:

  4. Submit before the deadline: Application for the 2026/2027 cycle closes on 15 January at 14:00 CET.
  5. Selection process: Applications are evaluated by both the Hungarian Ministry (Tempus Public Foundation) and the host universities.
  6. Nomination & Admission: If nominated, you may be invited for entrance exams or interviews, depending on the university.
  7. Visa & Enrollment: Successful candidates apply for a student visa (if needed), then enroll at the Hungarian university before the start of the academic year.
