ICCR Online Scholarship Opportunity Overview 

Exciting opportunity for Afghan youth!
The Government of India has announced 1000 fully funded ICCR online scholarships for Afghan nationals under the Special Scholarship Schemes for Afghan Nationals (SSSAN). These scholarships are available for the 2025–26 academic year and offer Afghan students the chance to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees online from top Indian universities and institutes.

Since 2005, India has been a key partner in Afghan education by awarding around 1,000 scholarships annually under the ICCR program. However, the program was paused after August 2021 due to political changes in Afghanistan. Despite the pause, some Afghan students already in India were supported to continue their studies.

Now, India is resuming its commitment by offering 1,000 online scholarships again, enabling Afghan youth to access quality higher education from their own countries or anywhere in the world.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Citizen of Afghanistan
• Between 18 and 35 years old
• Reside in any country (must hold a valid Afghan passport or national ID)
• Have academic qualifications required for the selected program (check respective university websites)
• Have adequate English proficiency (read, write, and understand)
• Upload documents in JPEG, JPG, or PNG format (50KB to 250KB)

Required Documents:

• Valid academic transcripts and certificates
• Valid Afghan passport or national ID with photo and date of birth
• Passport/ID must remain valid until the last enrollment date
• Scanned photo and all documents must be uploaded in the correct format and size

Note: Incomplete or ineligible applications will be rejected. The Indian Mission in Kabul may request original documents for verification.

Selection Process:

• Applications are first reviewed by the chosen Indian universities for eligibility.
• The Indian Mission in Kabul verifies the identity of applicants.
• The Implementing Agency and Project Monitoring Unit checks for missing information.
• Final approvals are made by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) or ICCR.
• Selected candidates are informed by their university and must confirm their enrollment.
