Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Honjo International Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality: Applicants must be international students from countries outside Japan. The student should not possess Japanese citizenship.
  • Education Level: The scholarship is available for students enrolled in master’s or doctoral programs at a Japanese university. and the duration of enrollment until- graduation should be more than —12 months.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Japanese or English is required, depending on the language of instruction at the chosen university.
  • Age Limit: Applicants should generally be under 35 years of age at the time of application. for the master’s program, they should be 30 (no exception).
  • Those enrolling in a professional graduate school are not eligible to apply/ The student must enroll as of April 2025 /apply for a course starting from April 2025 at a graduate school in Japan..
    However, a student who can submit a research plan is eligible to apply.
  • They —good will and attend the events organized by the Foundation/ They– a deep understanding of international friendship
  • Able to carry a basic conversation in Japanese because the interviews –in Japanese (No exception).

Scholarship Benefits

The Honjo International Scholarship Foundation offers generous financial support to successful applicants, including:

  • Monthly Stipend: A monthly allowance to cover living expenses.
    • ¥230,000 per month for 1- 2 years degrees
    • ¥180,000 per month for 4- 5 years degrees
    • ¥210,000 per month for 3 years degrees
  • Tuition Fees: Coverage of tuition fees for the duration of the program.
  • Travel Expenses: Some scholarships may include travel expenses for international students.
