Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working in the fields of urban regeneration, education, business development, and the preservation of traditional arts and architecture. Established in 2006, the organization has played a vital role in restoring historic neighborhoods in Kabul, especially Murad Khani in the old city.
Turquoise Mountain has removed over 45,000 cubic meters of waste, restored or constructed more than 150 historic and community buildings, and developed essential infrastructure such as water, electricity, sanitation, schools, and a clinic. It also operates the internationally accredited Institute for Afghan Arts & Architecture, training young Afghan men and women in traditional crafts including woodwork, jewelry, calligraphy, miniature painting, ceramics, and gem cutting. The organization has successfully sold over USD 15 million worth of Afghan artisan products worldwide.

Job Summary
The Computer Teacher will be fully responsible for teaching computer subjects to students of grades 12 to 14 based on the approved curriculum. The role includes lesson planning, preparation of coursework, marking assignments, managing classroom activities, and ensuring student safety during lessons.
The teacher will report all academic activities to the Education Manager and will also be responsible for reviewing the current computer curriculum or developing a new one if required. In cases where study materials are unavailable, the teacher must prepare at least one chapter per semester using valid academic resources. The position also involves extracurricular activities, setting learning targets, and monitoring student progress.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach computer programs including MS Windows, MS Office packages, Internet applications, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and computer hardware
- Prepare and deliver theoretical and practical computer lessons
- Plan lessons according to targeted learning objectives
- Mark student work, provide feedback, and maintain academic records
- Monitor and manage the computer laboratory
- Support students individually with academic or personal challenges
- Maintain student attendance records (weekly, monthly, and semester)
- Prepare exam results and student assessments
- Review and update the computer curriculum based on market needs
- Develop study materials and chapters according to the curriculum
- Manage classroom behavior and apply effective discipline measures
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development training
- Liaise with education officers, institute directors, parents, and other professionals
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations
- Conduct daily school supervision duties
- Perform other tasks assigned by the line manager or Turquoise Mountain authorities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator (mandatory)
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong managerial and classroom management skills
- Ability to prepare curriculum-based study materials
- Commitment to professional development and academic standards
