Kabul, July 12, 2025; Internationally acclaimed Afghan singer and women’s rights advocate Aryana Sayeed has been awarded the 2025 High Note Global Prize. The announcement was made by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on International Day of Hope, observed every year on July 12. Aryana Sayeed received the honor for her powerful anthem “We Believe in Hope,” a song that amplifies the voices of women and girls in Afghanistan and around the world.

A Song That Carries a Global Message

According to the OHCHR, We Believe in Hope was selected for its inspiring message of equality, unity, and women’s empowerment. The song was composed by Jeff Beal, written by Joanne Beal, and performed by Aryana Sayeed. It is based on the true story of Afghanistan’s first all-girls robotics team, a group that symbolizes resilience, innovation, and courage under pressure.

In its official statement, the OHCHR noted: “The inspiring anthem We Believe in Hope, composed by Jeff Beal, written by Joanne Beal, and sung by Aryana Sayeed, is based on the real-life story of Afghanistan’s first female robotics team. It has been selected as the first-ever song to receive the High Note Global Prize -a prestigious international honor.”
