Introduction

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) offers its official Mentoring Programme, designed to enable Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni to connect, inspire each other, and create real-world impact. By pairing new scholars with experienced alumni working in relevant fields, the programme facilitates one-on-one guidance and practical insights to help scholars translate their academic knowledge into meaningful action.

Opportunity Overview

The mentoring cycle runs for one year from December 2026 to December 2027. Successful applicants are matched into a one-to-one mentoring pairing based on application responses. The partnership progresses through five distinct stages designed to help participants achieve key milestones. Throughout the year, participants receive support via programme handbooks, regular communications, skills development resources, online information sessions, and virtual meet-ups.

Eligibility

The programme is open to Commonwealth Master’s and Doctoral Scholars who can join as Mentees to gain personalized guidance, support on adapting to the UK, and advice on building employability skills. Commonwealth Alumni with significant professional experience post-Scholarship can join as Mentors to guide the next generation of scholars, share expertise, and enhance their own leadership and communication skills.

Requirements

Applicants must be active or past Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni meeting the specific criteria for either the Mentee or Mentor role. Participants must be willing to commit to the one-year programme cycle and engage actively in virtual meetings and milestone stages.

• Must be a current Commonwealth Master’s or Doctoral Scholar (for Mentees) or a Commonwealth Alumnus with significant post-Scholarship professional experience (for Mentors)
• Complete and submit the application form when open
