The HZDR Summer Student Program provides international senior university students with a valuable opportunity to conduct hands-on research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in Dresden, Germany. Participants join research groups in fields such as natural sciences, life sciences, medicine, technology, and related disciplines.
Each student works on a tailored project under the supervision of experienced HZDR researchers, gaining practical experience in laboratories, data analysis, scientific computing, or theoretical work. The program includes a series of scientific lectures, lab tours, and individual discussions with supervisors during the obligatory lecture period. Held annually from July to September, it promotes international collaboration and interdisciplinary research in energy, health, and matter. Selected students contribute to ongoing projects while receiving feedback on their performance, making it an ideal stepping stone for future academic or professional careers in science and technology

Eligibility Criteria
- – Must be an enrolled senior university student in natural sciences (e.g., physics, chemistry), life sciences (e.g., biology, genetics), medicine, technology (e.g., engineering, computer science), or related fields.
- – Must have completed at least three years of university studies by September 30, 2026
- – Remain enrolled as a student during July to September 2026 (exceptions for those receiving a degree during the program but still enrolled).
- – Demonstrate good academic performance through grades and a letter of recommendation.
- – Possess good proficiency in English for full participation.
- – PhD students are not eligible.
- – Students who had a contract or stipend at HZDR in the year before July 1, 2026, are not eligible.
- – Open to international students from around the world.

- – Curriculum Vitae (CV): In English, detailing education, enrollment status, and relevant experience (PDF format).
- – Academic Transcripts/Grades: All university records in English or with English translation, including Bachelor’s certificate if available (PDF).
- – Proof of Enrollment: Student ID or certificate confirming current university enrollment and status during the program period.
- – Letter of Recommendation: One letter from a professor or scientist familiar with the applicant’s work; uploaded directly by the recommender via a provided link.
- – Additional Documents: Optional supporting materials if needed (PDF). All documents must be uploaded in PDF format. The letter of recommendation is mandatory for consideration.
