Aga Khan Health Services–Afghanistan (AKHS-A) is seeking a qualified and professional Driver for its Takhar Regional Office. This full-time, project-based role is ideal for male national candidates with 2–3 years of professional driving experience, an updated driving license, and strong knowledge of local routes.

AKHS-A is one of the most respected non-profit health systems in Central and South Asia. It operates extensively across Afghanistan, providing primary and secondary healthcare services, hospital management, education for health workers, and community health support. The Driver will play a crucial role in supporting the safe and efficient transportation of staff, goods, and medical supplies.

Job Responsibilities

The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Transport staff to the field and home safely.

  • Deliver office goods, supplies, and items as instructed by the direct supervisor.

  • Drive staff to required clinics according to the work plan.

  • Ensure careful and safe driving according to AKHS-A and government guidelines.

  • Maintain office vehicles, including cleaning, repairing, and ensuring they function properly.

  • Ensure all essential tools and equipment inside the vehicle are working correctly.

  • Ensure that all required documents (vehicle documents, driving license, insurance papers, etc.) are always present in the vehicle.

  • Use seat belts at all times and ensure availability of safety tools (spare tire, repair kit, first aid kit).

  • Ensure that the fuel tank is full before long-distance trips.

  • Accurately prepare and record kilometer reports and maintain the logbook daily.

  • Maintain professional conduct and respectful communication with colleagues.

  • Strictly avoid transporting illegal materials; violation will result in contract termination.

  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Education Requirements

  • Preferably a 12th-grade graduation certificate.

  • Alternatively, the ability to read and write sufficiently for logbook entries.

  • A valid and updated professional driving license is mandatory.

Work Experience

  • At least 2–3 years of professional driving experience with recognized organizations.

  • Local candidates are preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to work under difficult road conditions and irregular working hours.

  • Strong knowledge of local languages; English language familiarity is an advantage.
