About the AESOP English Course

The Afghan Education Student Outreach Project (AESOP) proudly announces its Spring 2026 English Course — a 15-week, volunteer-taught online program designed exclusively for female Afghan students. The course aims to empower Afghan women through education by providing access to high-quality English language instruction at no cost.

Classes are taught by volunteer university students and professionals from around the world. Through this opportunity, participants will improve their communication skills, boost their confidence, and connect with a global community of learners.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: November 15, 2025
  • Interview Period: December 10–30, 2025
  • Course Start Date: Mid-January 2026

Cost & Internet Support

The AESOP English Course is completely free of charge.
However, based on available funding, AESOP may provide $10 monthly mobile data top-ups to a limited number of active students living inside Afghanistan. Please note that this assistance is not guaranteed for all participants.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

  • Be a female student from Afghanistan
  • Have basic literacy in English
  • Be able to attend classes online for 15 weeks
  • Complete the entire application form by yourself

Applicants who receive significant outside help (AI, grammar tools, or other individuals) may be disqualified.

Application Process

  1. Complete the online application form (link provided on AESOPAfghanistan.org).
  2. Upload a photo or scan of your passport or Tazkira for verification.
  3. Attend a live online interview if shortlisted.
  4. If selected, you will be notified by email by the end of December 2025.

If you do not receive an email by December 31, it means you were not shortlisted. AESOP cannot respond to individual status inquiries.

Technology & Internet Access

Applicants should have access to:

  • A computer or smartphone
  • A stable internet connection
  • The ability to attend online sessions regularly

Students needing internet support must provide the phone number registered in their own name (AESOP cannot send data to a Salaam number).

Course Levels

You can apply for one of the following levels:

  • Basic
  • Elementary
  • Intermediate
  • Upper-Intermediate

If applying for Intermediate or Upper-Intermediate, please take the free 15-minute Duolingo Practice Test and include your score in your application.

Personal Statement

Each applicant must write a short Personal Statement (100–200 words) in English, choosing one of the following prompts:

  • Tell a story that summarizes your character.
  • How do you imagine your future as an English speaker?
  • What have you done — or would like to do — to help other Afghan students?
  • Tell a story about someone who has had a major influence in your life.

AESOP values honesty and effort over perfection — please write it in your own words.

By submitting your application, you agree that AESOP will use your personal information only for internal review and class placement purposes. Your data will remain private and will not be shared with anyone outside AESOP.
